WHEN it comes to the body, most of us follow the dictum "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." In other words, if we feel okay, there really can't be anything wrong. If your eyes feel okay and your vision is perfect, does that mean you have nothing to worry about and don't have to see your eye doctor? NO! It does not.
The early phases of many serious eye diseases don't seem to affect your vision or give discomfort – glaucoma, for example. Years ago there used to be a pharmaceutical company that made anti-glaucoma medications. In their ads, they called glaucoma "the thief in the night." That's because most glaucoma, which is high pressure in the eyeball, doesn't seem to affect your eyesight…
